Stationing of Galeries Lafayette cements the Centre as a new landmark on the Macau peninsula

March 07, 2022

Hong Kong and Macau, 7 March 2022 "Treasure Island Resort World Hotel and Shopping Centre Macau" announced in the signing ceremony today that the shopping centre will open in December. JLL has been appointed as the exclusive leasing and marketing consultant of the shopping centre and successfully introduced Galeries Lafayette to its station in Macau, marking the fourth branch of the department store in Greater China and cementing the centre as the latest landmark on the Macau peninsula. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Ms Ai Lin-zhi from AI & Wong Lawyers.

Standing at the centre of the transportation hub connecting the Cotai area on the Macau peninsula, "Treasure Island Resort World Hotel" is surrounded by the Nam Van Lake and sits adjacent to the front of Yamala, with the project belonging to a brand-new fully comprehensive luxury five-star hotel tourism development plan.

The five-storey "Treasure Island Resort World Shopping Centre" encompasses shopping malls, Chinese and Western restaurants, bars, cinemas, supermarkets, children's playgrounds and many other attractions. "Treasure Island Resort World Shopping Centre" comes together with Forward Fashion (International) Holdings Company Limited, jointly introducing six world-class retail brands, including Galeries Lafayette, a French premium department store with global renown and years of heritage that is launching its debut store in Macau; UFC Gym, the world's top high-end fitness centre; POP MART, a leading lifestyle toy retailer; Under Armour, a leading global sports brand; Beebeeland, a large comprehensive game entertainment centre; and Five Guys, a world-famous burger brand. Touting the potential of Treasure Island Resort World Hotel with the unique advantages afforded by the region, Forward Fashion (International) Holdings led the prestigious Galeries Lafayette to join the fray, setting the stage for "Treasure Island Resort World Shopping Centre" to create a whole new luxury shopping experience in Macau, and further supporting Macau in its aim to become a one-stop world centre of tourism and leisure.

"Treasure Island Resort World Shopping Centre" is also delighted to have Bona Film Group taking up approximately 30,000 sq ft to open a seven-screen modern theatre. Bona Film Group has been optimistic about Macau’s cinema industry and believes the market has the potential for industrial upgrading. This theatre is set to become the most high-tech and diverse cinema in Macau upon its opening, bringing new impetus to the market and new experience to the audience.

Another highlight of "Treasure Island Resort World Hotel Macau" is Macau's first large-scale open-air Japanese-style hot springs on the third floor, equipped with outdoor temperature controls, heated swimming pools and children's pools, turning the development into an exquisite shopping and entertainment complex. It is also an excellent one-stop dining and leisure destination for young people, couples and families, providing tourists and Macau residents alike with the best choices for sightseeing, shopping, partying, playing and vacationing.

Oliver Tong, General Manager at JLL Macau representing Treasure Island, said, "Located at the heart of Asia's tourism and trade and within a three-hour flight of nearly two billion people, Macau has long been one of Asia's top tourist destinations. In response to the escalating shopping and consumption needs of visitors worldwide, Treasure Island Resort World Hotel and Shopping Centre Macau offers a more convenient, diversified, quality and competitive option to the market. We are confident that this project will set a new benchmark for Macau's local shopping and hospitality industry and become the next must-visit destination for leisure and tourism in the region."

Oliver Tong, General Manager at JLL Macau, said, "JLL is honoured to be appointed as the exclusive leasing and marketing agent for the shopping complex. The chances of any further major shopping and entertainment buildings being built on the Macau peninsula are slim, so it is likely that Treasure Island Resort World Hotel and Shopping Centre Macau will be the last major new shopping and hotel project to be built in the next 10 to 20 years. We are committed to making the mall the most visible and popular tourist shopping centre in Macau, and we believe, it will become a trendsetter to bring a new look to Macau’s retail landscape. To that end, we successfully introduced Galeries Lafayette, marking the opening of its fourth branch in Greater China. The presence of Galeries Lafayette not only affirms the uniqueness and attractiveness of the project, but also demonstrates the confidence of this century-old international brand in the prospects of Macau's retail industry."

Mr. Patrick Fan, Founder, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Forward Fashion (International) Holdings Company Limited, said, "Treasure Island Hotel Macau will serve as benchmark for a new era in Macau. We are excited to introduce top international brands to the hotel, which will demonstrate our advantages in international branded fashion retailing and our success in business diversification, and thus further strengthen our internal business ecosystem. The cooperative arrangement will not only create greater room for development and more market opportunities for both parties, but will also play an important role in fostering development of Macau's tourism and retail industries. Looking ahead, we will actively explore more cooperation opportunities, continue to introduce high-quality fashion brands and further enrich the number and types of brands under the Group so as to offer unique and impressive experiences to consumers."

Covering an area of 8,100 sqm/87,156 sq ft, the "Treasure Island Resort World Hotel Macau" has a total construction area of 82,364 sqm/886,237sq ft with a building height of over 70 metres and a total of 600 rooms. The developer designed two different styles of guest rooms: one is fashioned in the US Treasure Island style, while the other is in the Singapore Resorts World style. All rooms enjoy either scenic Macau and Taipa sea views or Nam Van Lake views. The hotel will begin trial operation in October, with the grand opening set for December.
