After growing rapidly, international law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) had
outgrown its current  office in Hong Kong.

The firm wanted to consolidate its team in one place, and had long-term plans for expansion across Asia. To make this vision a reality, they searched for a single, strategic partner  who could not only help them find and lease a new office space, but that could negotiate early terminations of their existing lease commitments to enable consolidation of their teams as quickly as possible.

In addition, BLP found themselves facing more complex cases from their clients that needed to be tackled by multiple teams—therefore a modern space that would enable colleagues to collaborate more closely was a top priority.

Our office leasing, research and project management teams got together to develop a detailed relocation strategy. With that in hand, we assisted BLP in getting out of its three existing premises ahead of their natural lease expiries, saving the law firm significant operating costs and bringing them closer to their goal of a single Hong Kong headquarters.

After studying the market, we identified a business district to the east of Hong Kong Island, with its mix of Grade A offices and world-class infrastructure, as the best fit for BLP’s relocation. The area is home to more than 300 multinational companies, including many Fortune 500 companies and a slew of new start-ups—a good match for BLP’s current clientele and future prospects.

Our tenant representation experts negotiated a six-year lease for 15,000 sq. ft. with one of Hong Kong’s premier Grade A office landlords to bring about BLP’s expansion and enable its new agile way of working.
